Someone Should Tell...

Philipians 1:6 [. . . ] being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

I do not take that lightly. I take that quite personally. No matter what I am going through, He began a good work in me; He will carry it on. No, I do not mean my higher education, though that certainly is encouraging. I do not think that God is concerned with my degree or lack thereof. I know He called me to be a nurse, I have always been a nurturer and a caregiver, but more than that, I know He called me to be His child. I work out my salvation with fear and trembling; I seek, ask and knock; I study to show myself approved and be prepared to give an answer for the joy and victories in my life. What He carries to completion is finished already. . . there for my receiving. . . a free gift.

I receive.

The enemy should retreat because I skipped to the back of THIS book and I already know Who wins. Tremble, serpent, tremble.

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (John 1:12 KJV)

Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. (Phillipians 2:12 KJV)

Keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened for you. (Matthew 7:7)[International Standard]

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:1 KJV)

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: (I Peter 3:15 AKJV)

When he had received the drink, Jesus said, "It is finished." With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. (John 19:30 NIV)

Let Us Pray, Part II

Print View loreelle044 August 10, 2008 10:21 Bible Study Permalink Trackbacks (0)

In my mind, as clear as if it was yesterday, I hear the priest say, "Let us pray to the Lord in the words our Saviour gave us..." and that was ALWAYS the lead-in for us to pray "the Lord's Prayer". Thinking deeply, and perhaps analytically, about that now, I think of the scripture. (y'all sigh relief, ha ha!)

In HIS own word, according to the divinely inspired message, Jesus had HIS own 'lead-in'.

"Matthew 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. 8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. 9 After this manner therefore pray ye:"

I think of that because, though there is MUCH merit in the memorizing of scripture (see Deuteronomy chapter 6), it is worthless if we just RECITE this prayer. I believe Jesus meant this as a GUIDE. Check this out...

Goldfinch Giggles

No, seriously! Have you heard their song? It's more like a GIGGLE!!! And aren't they GORGEOUS!?!!?!?! Even the females!  There seems to be a much larger population of goldfinches in the woods behind the office where I work. And, come to think of it, I haven't seen or heard my "red-head" lately.  Frown  There was at least one woodpecker, I think a red-headed kind, and a downey woodpecker too. I used to hear him pecking and learned their song from there. Cool song. And when it rained, there seemed to be lots of goldfinches in those woods. Now the goldfinches are ALL OVER back there. Oh yeah, and there was a house finch at school I'd see on my lunch breaks. Those are so beautiful in a more quiet way than the goldfinches, yes? But gorgeous nonetheless...any way, a quote for you I heard in church today. We sorta celebrated the earth He gave us to live on / in and our worship leader / pastor gave us all GREEN t-shirts to wear to proclaim these things:

Listen to the sermon preached to you by the flowers, the trees, the shrubs, the sky, and the whole world. Notice how they preach to you a sermon full of love, of praise of God, and how they invite you to glorify the sublimity of that sovereign Artist who has given them being.

St. Paul of the Cross

And in Genesis 1:1, the Hebrew word for "created" is "bara" -- sorry, don't know how to do the housetop accent thingies, but the words means (from my Strong's concordance) "...to create, to make...is of profound theological significance, since it has only God as it's subject...only God can "create" in the sense implied by 'bara'...(HERE'S THE BEST PART!!!) the verb expresses CREATION OUT OF NOTHING....

SEE?!?!?!? *sigh* i LOVE that!!!!

So -- let us be good stewards of the earth He created where we live. (Stewards = a person who takes care of something that belongs to someone else.)

Love you!

Follow Up To "Gen/Sin"

The Generational Sin Thing

What was on my mind when I posted that challenge? I was thinking about my life in regards to my children, which often causes me to reflect on my own life and relationship to my parents. Some have said that I am a good mom. But I shudder at those comments, as my adult children are amazing IN SPITE OF ME. The enemy is faithful to remind me of the many shortcomings and failures in my life that I have PARADED in front of my children.  (More)

thank you all so much for your tremendous outpouring in my "bitterness" posts and contributions to my studying of "gen-sin". i promise to reply to you all individually and collectively with the point of my gen-sin post asap.

please -- cramming for anatomy / physiology AND 750 werds due saturday.

tough to get this all done when working 9 - 5. as a matter of fact, the fact that i posted those at all tells you i took study time to do so. honestly, this old brain takes alotta revvin' if you know what i mean and i have to do some of this anatomy/physiology multiple times for it to sink in. any way -- i posted so as not to forget and to get your input for me to respond to later. actually, the reason i stated in the gen-sin post to post up in your blogs and let me read was to avoid making you feel snubbed. i truly appreciate your scripture refs and have good reason and a little write coming to 'splain, k 'ricky'? (if you know what i mean, we're that age together!)

love, hugs and pleas of patience

~L~
