Something is really BUGGING ME!!!
Often in my writing, I want to quote people...really cool quotes, you know? The kind that had such an impact on me that I can hardly wait to share. Quite uncharacteristically for me, though, I first research the quote. This, for a couple of reasons: 1. I have often found that the author who is given the credit for the quote is not really the author. 2. I have found (through great websites that do this kind of thing) that the quote was taken out of context, added to, taken away from, et cetera. 3. I seek to contact the author to ask permission to use the quote and thank them, if appropriate.
Then I consider the author. Many MANY times I have seen or heard something I find "quote-worthy" only to cringe when I see who the author is. 'Oh, NO! I can't quote HER! She's too controversial a person!' I frown. That brought me to this stunning conclusion at this amazing hour, sitting here with a sour stomach and an exhausted body (I've been sick.) WHO CARES who said it if it has merit?!?!?!? I mean, consider the men who were used by God to pen the holy scriptures! I had a post, early on, where I addressed JUST THAT. I had (have somewhere?) a MARVELOUS write God gave me that is much more thorough, but I have to get this posted before I lose the fire...again, I say, consider the authors of the bible. No, I can't finish this...look for my next post. I'm going to stay up and find that write because IT MATTERS.
And furthermore, I'm going to quote some very controversial authors because God can use their words for good. I tell you, I do not like a couple of these people, but what I read or heard them say has merit and can be used to affirm or otherwise encourage people. So, um...that's fair warning, I guess.
Forgive my tone, I don't feel good and I'm tired of that stuff ^ I speak of.
Stay tuned...
